“TANAKA Night: Taste the World!” Culinary Event

Tohoku University’s Global Learning Center, in collaboration with special sponsor Tanaka Precious Metals Memorial Foundation, is set to host an exciting culinary event titled “TANAKA Night: Taste the World!”.

The event is designed to take students on a journey around the world through food. By exploring a variety of cuisines, ingredients, and flavors, the organizers hope to uncover the stories and cultures behind each dish. The ultimate goal of the event is to inspire curiosity about different cultures, encourage intercultural understanding, and broaden students’ global perspectives.

Event Details:

  • Venue: Sky KAWAUCHI Forest, located on the Kawauchi North Campus.
  • Time: Meals will be served starting from 6:00 p.m. and will be available while supplies last.
  • Eligibility: This event is exclusively for Tohoku University students. A Co-op app or student ID is required to participate.
  • Cost & Availability: Meals are offered at a special price of ¥300, a significant discount from the estimated regular price of ¥800. Portions are limited to 400 servings per day, with a limit of one serving per person.

Students can look forward to a diverse lineup of international dishes across five days in July:

  • Monday, July 6: Malatang with Rice & Arroz con Leche.
  • Wednesday, July 8: Jollof Rice & Revuelto Gramajo (Halal).
  • Friday, July 10: Lohikeitto & Aussie Meat Pie.
  • Tuesday, July 14: Picadillo & German-style Potato Salad (Halal & Vegan).
  • Thursday, July 16: Bulgogi with Rice & North American Tuna Salad.
