Facilities in the Kawauchi-Kita and Katahira areas

University Libraries

Tohoku University libraries consist of the Main Library, four branch libraries, and 14 library rooms and archives belonging to graduate schools and institutes.
When you using Tohoku University libraries, a student ID or Library Card is required. Library Cards are issued by the library.

Tohoku University CO-OP

Each Tohoku University campus has CO-OP shops that provide students with carious services need for student life. Halal foods are also served at several caafeterias.

Wi-Fi Service on Campus

You can use “eduroam” (campus Wi-Fi service) in the student lounges on campus. For more details, please refer to the “Information Services for Education in Tohoku University”

Katahira area

  • Katahira Central Gym
    Application: Make a tentative reservation first at Window No.2 on the 1st floor of the Education and Student Support Center on Kawauchi-Kita campus. Submit a sports facility usage permission application form to the window. The application form is accepted 2 months prior to the date of usage from Student Friendship Association Members and 1 month prior from others.
    *For inquiries regarding any facility, please contact the place where its application is accepted.

Kawauchi-Kita area

  • Kawauchi Gym, rugby and soccer ground, volleyball court, baseball ground, futsal court, tennis court, 2nd floor of Sub Arena 1
    Application: Kawauchi Gym Office
  • Some classrooms in Lecture Building C on Kawauchi-Kita campus
    Available Times: Monday-Friday 4:15 pm-8:00 pm/6:00 pm-8:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am-8:00 pm
    *Only available during the class term, including the supplementary class term.
    *Closed on Sunday, national and New Year’s holidays.
    Application: The list of available classrooms is updated every Monday (if Monday is a national holiday, then the next day) for the next three weeks. Check the list and reserve a room at Window No.2 on the 1st floor of the Education and Student Support Center on Kawauchi-Kita campus. Submit a classroom usage permission application form within three days before the date of usage (not including weekends and national holidays) to the window.
  • Window No.2, 1st floor, Education and Student Support Center, Kawauchi-Kita campus
    Folding desk, folding chair, event tent, floodlighting projector, cord reel, ski equipment, black curtain, microphone set, portable microphone, cooler box, tape measure, sleeping bag
    *Submit an equipment usage permission application form to the window.
  • Kawauchi Central Gym
    Rubber-ball baseballs, softballs, baseball bases, baseball gloves and mitts, baseball bats, volleyballs, soccer balls, table tennis racquets, shuttlecocks, line marker
  • Make sure to return the equipment to a staff member.
  • If the equipment gets dirty, clean it before returning.
  • If the equipment gets damaged, report it to a staff member.
  • Strictly observe the return deadline.
