Moving to another country can no doubt be a daunting process due to language barriers and differences in customs and procedures in the new country.
For that reason, the International Support Center of Tohoku Univeristy offers both pre-departure and post-arrival support to all our students and researchers to ensure their smooth arrival in Japan, and to allow them to transition into their lives in Sendai with ease.
Outline of Pre-departure Support Services
The pre-departure support services will ensure that students and researchers can safely arrive in Japan worry-free.
COE Application and Delivery
Incoming students and researchers may be required to submit COE (Certificate of Eligibility) together with their visa application, depending on their purpose of entry, renumeration / employment status in Japan as well as their length of stay in Japan.
International Support Center will assist in the application and delivery of COE based on each requirement.
Support Related to Border Measure Requirements
With the relaxed border measure, the Japanese government is allowing new entry of foreign nationals provided that they fulfil all the conditions required by the Japanese government.
International Support Center provide incoming students and researchers with information on the necessary application to visit to Japan
Travel Arrangements
International Support Center with support from JTB can assist incoming researchers and students to make travel arrangements from flight ticket booking to hotel reservation to ensure their smooth arrival in Sendai.
Pre-departure & Post-arrival Info
Traveling to a foreign country can be daunting due to the many unfamiliar procedures and different surrounding. For that reason, the International Support Centre will provide a simple manual to all incoming international students and researchers about the procedures and steps to go through pre-departure, as well as a simple guidebook containing necessary information regarding life in Sendai.
Travel Arrangements
Moving to a different country can prove to be a challenging feat, even more so during a pandemic. International Support Center, with support from JTB, can aid incoming students and researchers with their travelling needs to allow for hassle free travel and arrive in Sendai with ease of mind.
ISC with the help of Japan Travel Bureau (JTB) can assist incoming international students and researchers to book their flight to Japan based on their requirement.
Remark 1*: All costs incurred shall be fully borne by the travelers themselves.
Remark 2*: Incoming students and researchers are still required to register themselves in the AMARYS system even if they choose to purchase the flight ticket themselves.
It could be challenging to arrange to travel from Tokyo to Sendai after undergoing quarantine procedure. For that reason, ISC can assist you in making the reservation of shinkansen ticket for your travel to Sendai.
Remark 1*: All costs incurred shall be fully borne by the travelers themselves.
Depending on your time of arrival in Tokyo, you may not be able to immediately go to Sendai.
We can assist in making the necessary hotel booking in Tokyo so you can rest in Tokyo for 1 night before making your way to Sendai the following day.
We can also assist you to make hotel reservation in Sendai should you require our assistance.
