News on Status of Residence

May. 25, 2020 : The Immigration Services Agency of Japan has changed the measure of granting the status of residence for those who are unable to return to their home country.
Mid-to-long-term residents and former mid-to-long-term residents who have difficulty returning to their home country due to the impact of COVID-19 will be granted the status of residence of "Designated Activities (6 Months)".
In addition, students who have difficulty returning to their home country and wish to work will be allowed to work(part-time) within a limit of 28 hours per week.

May. 14, 2020 : The Immigration Services Agency of Japan has updated Measures to reduce congestion at the immigration counters in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease COVID-19.
The immigration counters will be accepting applications to extend the period of stay from those foreign nationals whose expiration date for their period of stay is due in March, April, May, June or July, 2020.

May. 7, 2020 : The Immigration Services Agency of Japan has updated Measures to reduce congestion at the immigration counters in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease COVID-19.
There is the extension of the period for acceptance of applications for those foreign nationals whose expiration date for their period of stay is due in March, April, May or June, 2020.
Also, the period for receipt of the examination results (issuance of the residence card, etc.) has been extended for three months.

May 15, 2019 : The "Application for Certificate of Eligibility" forms have been updated.
Tohoku University's 13-digit "Corporation No.," which is necessary for this and several other applications, is 7370005002147.
Feb. 5, 2015 : The Certificate of Eligibility application form has been updated.
